Saffron alliance releases Cd's, songs and 'powadas' against Cong

Pune, Jan 23 (UNI) The City Unit of the BJP and Sena today released CD's, containing songs and 'powadas' highlighting the plight of the city and the failure of Congress and NCP run Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) as part of its campaign for elections to the Civic bodies to be held on February 1.

BJP spokesman Ujjwal Keskar said there was nothing new in the Congress manifesto. ''It is just a repeat of the previous one,'' he said.

Keskar said that his party had supported all the programmes for a massive rapid transport system for the city, be it a skybus or a metro project. However, ''it is regrettable, the hurry in which the Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS) project has been implemented bringing hardships on the citizens,'' he said.

Shiv Sena spokesman Raghunath Kuchik said that the 'powada' highlighted the failure of the Congress during its five year term in the city.

Several BJP leaders and Sena leaders are arriving in the city to campaign for their candidates. The BJP is sending their star campaigners, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Actor Smriti Irani, Shatrughana Sinha, Poonam Mahajan while the Sena campaign will see Uddhav Thackeray former State Chief Minister Manohar Joshi among others.
