Rs 220 cr to be spent on transformers in Haryana
Chandigarh, Jan 23 (UNI) The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) plans to add 24,000 power distribution transformers to strengthen the distribution system in its area at a cost of Rs 220 crore during next four years.
A Nigam spokesman today said that with the installation of these transformers, the total number of transformers in the DHBVN area would increase to about one lakh.
The Nigam had launched a massive drive of repair and maintenance of existing distribution transformers. The field officers had been directed to complete the task by September this year.
Under the drive, a special survey would be conducted and the transformers, found installed for more than five years, would be overhauled. Each operation circle had been directed to carry the capital maintenance of at least 200 transformers every week.
During the maintenance drive, it would be ensured that all the distribution transformers were properly earthed. Each operation circle would ensure earthing of at least 200 transformers per month.
It has been targeted to complete the work of installation of capacitors and thyristors on transformers in urban areas by March end.
