People trapped under collapsed Russian house-Ifax

MOSCOW, Jan 23 (Reuters) An apartment building has collapsed in Russia's Ural mountains trapping residents underneath the rubble, Interfax news agency reported today.

It was unknown if anyone was killed. The agency quoted a police spokesman as saying several people had been taken to hospital.

''There are people under the rubble. At the moment childrens' voices can be heard crying out for help,'' Interfax quoted the spokesman, Valery Gorelykh, as saying.
