Pending subsidy to SSI sector to be released soon

Sirsi, Karnataka, Jan 23 (UNI) Karnataka Small Scale Industries Minister Shivananda Nayak today said the long-pending Rs 300 crore subsidy amount to the SSI sector will be released soon.

Talking to newspersons here, he said Rs 120 crore of the total Rs 420 crore subsidy pending to the sector had been released and the Government had now decided to release the remaining Rs 300 crore after the coming budget session. Two rounds of talks have been held with Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

The Minister said the Government had given an open invitation to Small Scale Industrialists to set up any type of industry in the State and assured of Government support.

About promoting tourism in the State, Mr Nayak said the Managing Director of Government-sponsored 'Udyogamitra' project had conducted a survey of five coastal districts and submitted a report to the Government. The Government would accord utmost attention to this and try to wean away tourists from neighbouring Goa and Kerala.

He said the Karnataka Government would urge the Union Government to lay a railway line between Talaguppa and Honnavar on the Konkan division. The 32 km stretch would be the easiest route to reach the State capital.

He said the State Government would also appeal to the Centre to release Rs 200 crore towards the rehabilitation of the evacuees of Naval base Project Seabird near Karwar.
