Pakistan lodges strong protest with US, Britain

Islamabad, Jan 23 (UNI) Pakistan has lodged a strong protest with the United States and the United Kingdom over attack by the coalition forces operating in Afghanistan, on a Pakistani post, which left one soldier dead and two injured.

''A strong protest was lodged over the incident with the Coalition authorities through the Ambassador of the United States and, separately, with the High Commissioner of the United Kingdom at the Foreign Office today,'' foreign ministry spokeswoman Tasneem Aslam said here this evening.

They were told that the Coalition authorities should investigate the incident that took place yesterday as a result of firing from across the border on one of the post in North Waziristan tribal region and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.

''Both the parties have expressed deep regrets and said that the incident was being investigated,'' Ms Aslam said.
