Man tries to hijack Botswana plane: SABC

Johannesburg, Jan 23: A man has been arrested for trying to hijack a plane flying from Botswana to South Africa, South African state broadcaster SABC said today.

A spokesman for the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) confirmed a man was arrested after an incident on board an Air Botswana flight from Gaborone, adding the plane landed safely at Johannesburg's O R Tambo International airport.

''The man was immediately isolated and arrested and all the passengers were evacuated,'' said ACSA spokesman Solomon Makgale.

A police spokesman declined immediate comment but said more information would be available shortly.
