Malaysian Prince to lead 61st Cavalry Rgt. on Republic Day Parade

New Delhi, Jan 23 (UNI) Malaysian Prince, Capt. Tunku Ismail Ibrahim, will lead the 61st Cavalry Regiment of the Indian Army on the Republic Day parade.

The 23 year-old Prince, who has undergone training at the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA) at Dehradun, will be the only non-Indian to lead the only non-ceremonial horse-mounted cavalry regiment in the world.

Capt, Ibrahim who is the Prince of the economically rich Southern Malaysian State of Johor Bahru, is the grandson of the Sultan of Johor.

The Prince who received his early education in Malaysia and Australia, enrolled at the IMA as an officer cadet in July 2003.

Commissioned as Lieutenant in the Indian Army in December 2004, he was promoted Captain in December 2006.
