Mahesh Sharma retained as BJP's Rajasthan Unit Chief

New Delhi, Jan 23 (UNI) Former Rajya Sabha MP. Mahesh Chandra Sharma will continue to be the chief of the Rajasthan BJP it was officially announced today.

This sets at rest all speculations that the BJP high command was considering changing its Rajasthan unit chief.

There had been a lot of pressure from within the party to change Mr Sharma, with whom a section of the party was not happy.

When Mr Kalraj Mishra, party incharge for Rajasthan, failed to pacify the section, the issue was left to the BJP President Rajnath Singh who decided in favour of Mr Sharma. A meeting of about 15 senior BJP leaders from Rajasthan, including chief minister Vasudhara Raje had discussed the issue with the party President about a fortnight ago but no decision was taken in that meeting.

Earlier speculations were rife that Lok Sabha M.P. Kailash Meghwal might be appointed in place of Mr Sharma.
