Life terms for 3 in advocate murder case

Jaunpur, Jan 23 (UNI) A court has sentenced to life three persons accused in the murder of an advocate.

According to the prosecution, on August 29, 1997 -- lawyer Panna Lal Maurya -- a resident of Harbaspur village, was shot dead by Avadhesh Singh, Indra Sen, Shiv Mohan and two others over a land dispute under Line Bazar police station area.

On the basis of evidence, Additional District and Sessions Judge (I) convicted Avadhesh, Shiv and Indra, besides imposing a penalty of Rs 5,000 each on them.

However, the other two accused were acquitted for lack of evidence.
