Inter-University Athletic Meet in Bangalore from Jan 25

Bangalore, Jan 23 (UNI) More than 2,080 athletes, including 750 women, from 130 universities will participate in the 67th All India Inter-University Athletic Championship, to be held in Sree Kanteerava Stadium here from January 25 to 29.

International athletes, including Mohammed Mudassir, Bindu Rani, State athletes like Gopal, M C Niranjan, S K Prakash, G Srinivas, A P Chirag, Bhargava Reddy, M N Arjun, Amit Yadav and G K Aditya would participate in the five-day event. Events would be held in 43 disciplines -- 21 for women and 22 for men, Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof H A Ranganath told newspersons here today.

M G University, Kottayam, were the defending champions in both the men's and women's sections.

Kerala University had fielded the highest number of 55 athletes.

Rajiv Gandhi University, Women's University, Bijapur, and University of Agriculture were yet to announce their participation.
