Cold wave eases as dry spell continues in HP

Shimla, Jan 23 (UNI) The continuing dry spell has eased cold wave conditions in Himachal Pradesh.

The day and night temperatures were rising at several places after recording sub-zero degree Celsius across the state for over a month.

The minimum temperatures at Shimla town and Kalpa in Kinnuar district rose to 3.5 degree Celsuis and minus two degree Celsius respectively as compared to yesterday's 2.8 and minus 3.9 degree, met office said.

The cold conditions also eased at Nahan in Sirmaur district and Dharamshala in Kangra district with minimum temperatures of 7.8 and 6.7 degree Celsius, besides Palampur, which recorded a night temperature of 5.5 degree Celsius.

The met office said the tourist resort of Mashobra, near here, recorded a minimum of 4.8 degree followed by one degree at Nauni in Solan district of the state.

Similarly, the night temperatures at Sundernagar in Mandi district and Bhuntar in Kullu district rose to minus point three degree each, it said.

The temperatures in the mid and lower hills and higher altitude areas of the tribal districts of Kinnuar, Lahaul Spiti, Kullu and Chamba were also rising due to the continuing dry weather spell in the state.

The higher altitude areas of the tribal districts were recording minimum temperatures between minus 10 and minus 20 with the met office predicting dry weather for the next few days.

Shimla town had received mild snowfall in nine years on December 11, raising hopes of heavy snowfall during the winter season.
