Chandigarh, Jan 23 (UNI) Former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian Nationl Lok Dal (INLD) supremo Om Prakash Chautala today joined the campaign of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for the assembly polls in Punjab and urged the voters to wipe out the ruling Congress in the state.

Addressing a SAD rally at Ghanaur in Patiala district, Mr Chautala blamed the Congress for rising prices, poverty, starvation and corruption in the country among other things.

Taking a dig at the Congress for allegedly being anti-farmer, he said: ''All kinds of grasses except the Congress grass are of use for the farmers. Congress grass is not only useless for farmers but also harmful.'' Mr Chautala said the Punjab polls were not only important for the state but these would have an impact on the entire country.

A victory for the SAD in the state would give a new direction to the national politics, he added.

Among others who addressed the rally were SAD general secretary Sukhbir Badal and party leader Tejinder Pal Singh Sandhu.
