Centre releases Rs 97.80 lakh to HP under IAY

Shimla, Jan 23 (UNI) The Centre has released second installment of Rs 97.80 lakh grant-in-aid to Himachal Pradesh under the Indira Awas Yojna (IWY) during this financial year, an official spokesman said.

Sanctioned by the Union Rural Development Ministry, the sum would be spent in four District Rural Development Authorities (DRDAs) of Bislapur, Hamirpur, Kangra and Kullu zila parishads, he said in a release.

The spokesman said Kangra district cornered the largest amount of (Rs 65.58 lakh) followed by Rs 12.11 lakh for Bilaspur district, Rs 10.85 lakh to Kullu and Rs 9.24 lakh to Hamirpur district.

The grant was towards the plan expenditure and would only be utilised for construction of new houses and for converting mud houses into cement buildings, he said.

He said the expenditure on the Yojna was to be shared on 75:25 basis between the Centre and the state, which has to necessarily release it share within one month of the release of the funds from the Centre.

The state had already received Rs 114. 89 lakh from the Ministry as first installment under the IAY, he added.
