Central Zone registers second win
Mysore, Jan 23 (UNI) Superb bowling by Netu Devi (3/40) and Rumeli Dhar (2/5) enabled Central Zone to defeat North Zone by 10 wickets in the All India Inter-Zone Women's One-Day Cricket Tournament here today.
North Zone, which elected to bat first after winning the toss, were bundled out for 85 in 49 overs and Central Zone lass reached the target for win in 11.2 overs with openers Sulochana Nayak and Jayasharama scoring unbeaten 45 and 30 respectively.
In another match, East Zone defeated West Zone by four wickets.
West Zone, sent to bat first by East Zone scored 179 for eight in the allotted 50 overs with the help of R Goyel (55) scoring half century. East Zone reached the winning target in 49 overs loosing six wickets with Gowsami (70) and Simha singh (56) scoring half centuries each.
Brief Scores: North Zone: 85 all out in 49 overs (Anjuma chopra 25, Nethu David 3/40, Rumali Dhar 2/5) lost to Central Zone 88 for no loss in 11.2 overs (Sulochana Nayak 45 not out, Jayashamra 30 not out). West Zone: 179 for eight in 50 overs (Sunita Paranjape 23, r Goyal 55, Babusha 3/16, Mansai Purvi 2/31) lost to East Zone 181 for six in 49.2 overs (Simha Singh 56, Gowsami 70).
