Tiruchirapalli, Jan 23 (UNI) In a case of suspected murder, two charred bodies were recovered from a car that was found burning at Saveriyarpuram hamlet on the Tiruchirapalli-Dindigul Highway, about 65 km from here, early today.

State Special Branch (SB) Police sources told UNI that on a complaint from a passerby, who noticed that the car was burning on the roadside, Vaiyampatti Police rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire.

The police found two charred bodies inside the car.

Police investigations revealed that the deceased were P Durairaj, who was running a real estate business in Tiruchirapalli and his car driver Sakthi. Durairaj was stated to be missing since last morning.

His family members lodged a complaint at the Edamalaipatti Pudur Police station last night.

While the bodies were charred so badly that only the skeletal remains could be recovered, the police identified the body of Durairaj by his wristwatch. They seized the bodies and sent them to the government hospital for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, Durairaj's elder brother P Thangavel Udayar, a landlord, was also found dead under mysterious circumstances in his farm at Manikandan, near here last evening.

Though it was initially suspected that Thangavel Udayar might have died due to cardiac arrest, the police suspect some foul play following the recovery of his brother's body.

Thangavel Udayar's body was also seized by the police this morning and sent for an autopsy. Further investigations were on.

Tiruchirapalli Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Das, who is probing the case, told UNI that the police could not come to any conclusion at present as the investigations were still on.
