Badrinath Shrine to open for public in May

Dehra Dun, Jan 23 (UNI) The Badrinath Shrine, one of the four main shrines in Uttarakhand, will open for the public on May 1, the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee said today.

The shrine was closed for the winter season on the evening of November 16.

BKTC Chief Executive Officer Puranmal Sharma told UNI that the date for the opening of the shrine was declared in a meeting today attended by Mr Manujendra Shah, son of late Maharaja of Tehri-Garhwal and MP Manvendra Shah, BKTC Chairman Anusuiyya Prasad Maikhuri besides administration and public representatives.

He said the 'kalash', which was brought to the palace by people of the Dimri community today, would be filled with 'Til' oil on April 14 by Mrs Tika Rani Mala Raj Laxmi, the queen and wife of Mr Manujendra Shah.

After the 'Til', it would be sent to the shrine where the oil will be offered to Lord Badri Vishal on May 1st when 'Kapat' of the shrine opens for the public.
