Alka Yagnik, Jassi to perform in Varuna Mahotsava

Varanasi, Jan 23: Bollywood playback singer Alka Yagnik and 'Dil le gayi Kudi Gujarat ki' fame Indi-pop singer Jassi will perform live at the five-day Varuna Mahotsava starting on the banks of the Varuna river from February 18.

The festival, comprising musical, cultural and social events will be organised at the newly constructed Lal Bahadur Shastri Ghat dotting the Varuna river that bisects the city, Uttar Pradesh Forest Minister Virendra Singh told newspersons here yesterday.

It will be inaugurated by the state PWD Minister Shiv Pal Singh Yadav, while Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav will be the chief guest at the concluding function on February 22.

The festival will also have an animal and agricultural fair, Mr Singh said.
