Actor Pandian gets bail in cheating case

Chennai, Jan 23 (UNI) A local Court today granted bail to actor S Pandian, arrested in connection with a cheating case on January 10.

Principal Sessions Judge V Periyakaruppiah granted bail on condition that Pandian execute a personal bond for Rs 5,000 with two surities each for a similar amount and appear before the Virugambakkam Police, everyday at 1000 hrs for three weeks.

Police said Pandian was arrested following a complaint by one Murugesan, who said he was assaulted by Pandian when he went to the latter's house on January 9 to get back his money.

To get a job for his sister's son-in-law, Murugesan gave Rs 2.25 lakh to Pandian. The first instalment of Rs 75,000 was given to one Subbiah and the rest to Pandian. As Pandian could not arranged the job, he returned Rs 80,000. Murugesan approached him to set the balance.

Pandian contended that he was an active AIADMK member and was falsely implicated in the case.
