25 girls sold in MP and UP

Jabalpur, Jan 23 (UNI) A 19-year-old youth, arrested for confining and raping a minor, has confessed that he sold 25 girls in Gwalior and neighbouring Uttar Pradesh's districts, a crime in which his father and a woman were accomplices, the police said.

A 14-year-old went missing from the local Shakti Nagar area a month back. On January 21, the victim's relatives and some Mahila Congress workers freed her from the youth Jeetu Upadhyay's residence in Shikara village.

The accused confessed that Bijaura village-resident Shabana had abducted the girl and handed her over to Vijay Upadhyay.

Subsequently, she was confined by Jeetu.
