Women casts vote to get liquor shop closed
Kolhapur, Jan 22 (UNI) The women of Muglee village here have successfuly managed to get a liquor shop closed by casting votes.
In a poll conducted by the gram panchayat of the village yesterday, a majority of 672 women out of 982, cast their votes in support of their demand to shut the liquor shop.
The women celebrated their success by smearing 'gulal' on each other and distributed sweets.
Village women and youth had launched an agitation since the past six months, demanding the closure of the liquor shop, which they said had destroyed their domestic lives and made their men liquor addicts.
