Volunteers to protect freedom fighters rights observe fast

Puducherry, Jan 22 (UNI) Volunteers of the movement to protect the interest of families of freedom fighters, who fought for the liberation of Puducherry from French colonialism today observed a fast near the Venkatasubba Reddiyar square here to press their demands.

They were demanding, among other things, introduction of a scheme to protect the interest of indigent freedom fighters, release the name of the persons, who fought for the liberation struggle.

In an another agitation, teachers working on hourly basis in government schools observed a fast in front of the education department demanding that they be absorbed as Vice-Principal in schools, among other things.
