Srinagar, Jan 22 (UNI) Security forces busted a hideout in Srinagar, foiling attempts by militants to cause explosions on and before Republic Day and recovered one quintal of explosives and other arms and ammunition today.

An official spokesman said security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at Khimber under Zakura police station on the city outskirts.

He said after a long search of the area, security forces busted the hideout and recovered one hundred kg of explosives, two AK magzines, two antennas of wireless sets, three UBGL shells, one seal and a letter from Al-Badr outfit. However, no one was arrested.

The explosives recovered were enough to make more than 15 bombs to cause disturbances before and on the Republic Day celebrations in the city.
