Two youth drowned in sea in Mangalore

Madikeri Jan 22 (UNI) Two youth, in the early twenties, met watery grave yesterday as giant waves swept them into the sea near Ullal in Mangalore district of Karnataka.

Nasir and Pratap, both aged 23, hailing from Kodagu, had been to Mangalore with four other friends on two-wheelers. The group went to Someshwara beach near Ullal and started playing in the strong waves despite being warned by onlookers.

Three friends rushed to safety as a giant wave approached them.

But Nasir and Pratap were swept away. However, Irfan, who was also caught by the waves, was rescued by the onlookers.

The bodies were handed over to the parents of the victims after postmortem.
