Pune, Jan 22 (UNI) A Juvenile court today sent three 17-year-old boys to a remand home till January 29 for their alleged involvement in the kidnapping and murder of a six-and-half-year-old boy at Yavat, Rural Police said.

The court sent the accused to a remand home for killing Aadesh Deshmukh at Kedgaon in Daund Taluka near Yavat, around 30 kms from here, on January 15.

Police said the victim's uncle, Santosh Shelke, lodged a complaint with the police on January 15 saying that his nephew, Aadesh Deshmukh had gone missing while returning from school.

However, following a tip-off, the police detained Bhanudas Jagtap, who led them to two other teenagers. '' Though Jagtap was not involved in the case, he knew about the kidnapping plot. He however did not inform either Aadesh's parents or the police, Police said.

Police said during interrogation, the three accused confessed to the crime.

Two of the three teenagers were avid watchers of crime stories being reproduced on a Marathi TV channel and had seen a kidnapping-for-ransom drama in one of the episodes, said Yavat Police Station's senior Police Inspector R Mohite, who is investigating the case.

The kidnappers threw Addesh into a canal and waited till he drowned. His body was found last Wednesday. Investigations are on.
