3 Pakistani soldiers killed in Waziristan attack
Peshawar (Pakistan), Jan 22: A roadside bomb killed at least three Pakistani soldiers in the North Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan, where support for the Taliban is strong, officials said.
''The initial reports are that an army vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device and three soldiers were killed,'' a military official in Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan said. Several people were also wounded in today's attack.
The attack is the first since an air strike by the Pakistan army on a militant base in neighbouring South Waziristan region, that killed up to 20 militants, according to intelligence sources, though villagers said only the bodies of eight wood-cutters were found.
