Students burn Satya Sai Baba's effigy, stage dharna

Hyderabad, Jan 22 (UNI) Telangana student leaders today staged a dharna in front of the Shivam temple of Satya Sai Baba here, to protest against Baba's statement opposing formation of separate Telangana state.

Raising slogans against Satya Sai Baba, the students burnt his effigy.

Student leaders said it was unfair on his (Baba) part to make statements against the formation of Telangana.

They warned that places of worship of Baba would be closed if he continued to make statements against the formation of Telangana.

Sri Satya Sai Baba, yesterday addressing a felicitation in Chennai in the presence of Union Minister Shivraj Patil, Tamil Nadu Governor Surjeet Singh Barnala, Maharashtra Governor S M Krishna, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran, said the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh was a sin.
