Six women pilgrims mowed down by Van
Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, Jan 22 (UNI) Six women pilgrims, belonging to a family, were killed and four others injured when they were run over by a van near Kannivadi here this morning.
Police said the accident occurred when the pilgrims hailing from Pudupatti near Cumbum in Therni district, were proceeding to the famed Murugan temple at Palani on a ''padayatra''. The van was coming from Nagercoil to Palladam.
The deceased were identified as Kanagamani (45), Jothi (41), Mina (43), Rathina (55), Podumani (45) and Chinnathai (55).
The injured were shifted to a private hospital here.
The van driver, Murugan (31), was arrested, police added.
