Panaji, Jan 22 (UNI) Opposition BJP today held placards demanding scrapping of the controversial Regional Plan-2011 as the Governor S C James was addressing the Winter Session of the State Legislative Assembly that began today.

''Save Goa for the Next Generation'', ''Scrap Regional Plan-2011'' and ''Save Goa from the Regional Plan - 2011'', read the placards. The BJP members, however, observed strict silence even as they displayed the placards while occupying their seats.

The members, including former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, also wore black bands on their arms to register their protest against the Plan.

The Opposition members, again, silently displayed the placards as the Governor left the House after concluding his nearly hour-long address. In his address, the Governor referred to the Plan while indicating that a new ten-year regional plan would be drafted within four months.
