Nitish appeals to contractors to resume work
Patna, Jan 22 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today appealed to the striking contractors to resume their road construction work in the Kosi division.
The contractors had suspended work following the killing of an engineer and his assistant.
Mr Kumar told newspersons here that police had been asked to spare no pains to nab the criminals, involved in the killing.
He asked the agitating contractors to resume the construction work at the earliest as stoppage would hinder developmental activities in the state.
Mr Kumar said the government would be forced to hire other contractors to carry on the construction.
He further said the government was serious towards the problems of the contractors and asked them to cooperate in the drive against crime instead of adopting agitational path.
Earlier, demanding an ex-gratia of Rs ten lakh to the next kin of the engineer and his assistant and immediate transfer of the Police Superintendent and the District Magistrate of Madhepura, the contractors in Kosi division had suspended the road construction work.
