New food arrangement in anganwdi centres in MP
Bhopal, Jan 22 (UNI) After a gap of 35 years, the Madhya Pradesh Government today announced a fresh nutrition food arrangement at the anganwadi centres in a bid to increase community participation in the services of anganwadi centres in the state.
A decision in this regard was taken at the state cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, here today.
With this, Madhya Pradesh has become the first state in the country to introduce a new model of nutritious food, an official release said here today.
Besides, it was decided to organise programmes like Annaprashan (the ceremony of giving rice boiled in milk to an infant for the first time), 'God Bharai', birthday and Adolescent Girls Day at these centres.
A total of 59,324 anganwadi centres are sanctioned under 367 Integrated Child Development Projects in Madhya Pradesh.
Proposals for additional 9,922 anganwadi centres had been forwarded for sanction to the Centre to ensure presence of these centres in proportion to population in rural and urban areas.
Items would be chosen by the district collectors as per protein and calorie content, whereas food grain would be supplied through self-help groups at local level.
