Navy divers recover 60 bodies from river
Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, Jan 22 (UNI) Following sustained efforts by Navy divers and local fishermen on either side of Krishna river, bodies of 60 people, who were drowned in a boat capsize in the river on January 18, were recovered.
Sixty four people were drowned in the accident.
According to officials here, the bodies were recovered with the help of iron hooks dropped into the river after fishermen advised them to do so. This was in addition to deploying expert divers at depths of 70 to 100 feet.
Some bodies were taken to the native places of the victims, while a few others were buried on the river bank.
Four more bodies were yet to be recovered.
