National Bravery awardees call on Delhi Governor

New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) Haryana Governor and Delhi Administrator A R Kidwai today said spirit of sacrifice demonstrated by brave children in endangering their life trying to save others is exemplary and worth emulating.

Dr Kidwai stated this while interacting with the children who had been selected for the National Bravery Award 2007, here at Raj Niwas.

Addressing the children, he said the selfless spirit and character of these children would take India to new heights.

''Bravery of these children reflects the changing face of the nation and the society,'' he added.

The governor exhorted them to also continue displaying this spirit of bravery in future.

In all 24 girls and boys would get the National Bravery Award-2007 for acts of courage, bravery and gallantry. Of these three boys would be awarded posthumously. Among these three, V Teja Sai and C V S Durga from Andhra Pradesh would receive Sanjay Chopra Award.

Ms Vandana Yadav from Uttar Pradesh would get the Geeta Chopra Award. Ms Asma Ayyub Khan from Maharashtra, Ms Sushila Gurjar from Rajasthan and Ms Shilpa Janbandhu from Chhattisgarh were the three girl recipients of Bapu Gayadhani Award.
