'Mulayam polluted Ganga by washing his sins'
Lucknow, Jan 22: BSP supremo Mayawati today said the holy Ganga had been polluted after Samajwadi Party president and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav washed his sins during the ongoing Ardh Kumbh Mela at Allahabad.
''Usne pavitra Ganga ko apne paap se ganda kar diya hai,'' Mayawati commented, when asked about the recent visit of Mr Yadav to Ardh Kumbh Mela.
''No matter, how much he (Mulayam) tries to wash his sins and seek the blessings of sadhus, the people of UP would not support him in the coming assembly poll,'' she told mediapersons here.
''People are fed up with the present SP regime and now Mr Yadav is running here and there to get the blessings of religious figures,'' Ms Mayawati noted.
Asked if BSP would move a no-confidence motion in the ongoing session of the state assembly, she said there was no such need as withdrawal of support by the Congress and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) was an 'opportunistic' move before the poll.
''After enjoying the entire stint with the SP, the move by the Congress and RLD move is not justified,'' she added.
The BSP leader said the Mulayam government would automatically go after the expected decision of the Supreme Court on the defection of 38 MLAs in 2003.
''We are awaiting the SC verdict and hope that the the President's rule would be enforced thereafter,'' she informed.
Ms Mayawati said her party will oppose the Governor's thanks motion in the assembly on January 25.
