'MPD 2021 will remove sword of sealing

New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) In an attempt to garner public support in view of forthcoming MCD elections, Congress councillors today claimed that notification of the Master Plan 2021, whose proposals were finalised by the DDA on Friday, would remove the sword of sealing and demolition from the heads of the citizens of Delhi.

''With the notification of this Master Plan, the sword of sealing and demolition will be removed from the heads of the citizens,''chairman of the MCD Standing Committee Jai Kishen Sharma said at a joint press conference here.

''The Master Plan proposals will ensure tremendous relief from sealing to all categories of people. For example, it allows activities in lakhs of basements in the city without any conditions while also providing for commercial activities in Lal Dora area,''Leader of the MCD House Jitender Kochar told reporters.

Claiming that many of the suggestions on the MPD 2021 send by the MCD to the Urban Development Ministry had been included in the Master Plan, he said,''all the suggestions on the Master Plan given by the Councillors in a meeting of the Standing Committee last week have been incorporated in the MPD 2021.'' In this context, he said the Master Plan included in its purview the 2183 roads notified as comercial and mixed use roads by the MCD. Further, pre-1962 colonies like Chandni Chowk, Najafgarh, Narela and Rohini have been declared commercial in MPD 2021.

Mr Kochar said as per the Master Plan, marriage functions could be held in motels, a proposal which would provide releif to the citizens who were faced with the paucity of halls to hold marriage and other functions.
