Mar Andrews Thazhathu to be new Archbishop of Thrissur

Thrissur, Jan 22 (UNI) Auxiliary Bishop Mar Andrews Thazhathu has been appointed as the Archbishop of Thrissur by Major-Archbishop Mar Varkey Cardinal Vithayathil with the consent of the Synod of the Syro Malabar Church.

This was announced at Vatican and the Lourde Cathedral here today.

Mar Andrews Thazhathu succeeds Mar Jacob Thoomkuzhy.

The new Archbishop will be consecrated on March 18 in the Lourde Cathedral.

Mar Andrews Thazhathu, a native of Pudukkad, near here, is the third Archbishop of Thrissur.
