Madarsa education being modernised - Nitish

Patna, Jan 22 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today announced measures for modernisation of madarsa education and said it would open new vista for the minorities.

Mr Kumar told newspersons here that all madarsas would be linked with modern education system and once the madarsas were modernised, the people being educated there would get ample job opportunities in different fields.

He assured that he would personally monitor the implementation of the Centre's ten-point programmes for the welfare of the muslim minorities and asked the Central government to draw up development-oriented schemes for the community.

He promissed to extend full cooperation in execution of the welfare schemes.

Expressing concern at the deplorable condition of the Muslims, he announced to publicise the status report of the minorities based on the survey conducted by the Minority Commission, during the regime of previous government, would be made public.

Mr Kumar said his government was concentrating on improving the academic atmosphere of the state and had decided to set up a Nalanda international university in Nalanda, IIT and other technical institutes.

He announced to open chapters of Bihar Foundation for establishing links with those interested in the development of the state. He said the government would frame policies for investment by the NRIs keeping in mind the interest of the investors.

The global meet for resurgent Bihar had changed the image of the state and created an investment-friendly environment here, he claimed.
