Judge charged with abetting wife's suicide
Rajkot, Jan 22 (UNI) A complaint has been lodged with the Jetpur police against an Additional Sessions Judge and his family for allegedly abetting the suicide of his wife.
According to police, Archana Thakker (30) had immolated herself on January 1. She succumbed to injuries 10 days later, police said.
Police said the victim's mother Padmaben yesterday lodged a complaint, charging the Judge Nishit Purushottomdas Thakker and his father, his aunt and three sisters with abetting Archana's suicide and harassing her for dowry.
Archana, a microbiotechnology student, had married the judge six years ago and had a five-year-old son.
''Since the accused is a Judge, permission is required from the court, before any action is taken against him,'' said a senior police official.
