Jr MCD Engineer sentenced to 5-year RI for graft
New Delhi, Jan 22 (UNI) A special CBI court today sentenced a junior MCD engineer to five years rigorous imprisonment for demanding and accepting bribe.
Special CBI judge Sunil Gaur convicted Rajpal Sharma for accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant. Sharma was also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000.
Sharma was arrested red-handed while accepting Rs 20,000 on May 14, 1999 from Mr Raj Kumar Sodhi by the anti-corruption cell of the Delhi Police.
On May 2, 1999, Sharma had demanded Rs 30,000 from Sodhi for not demolishing his tin-shed workshop in Kotla Mubarakpur area in South Delhi.
