Gold slides downward, Silver up
Mumbai, Jan 22 (UNI) A mixed trend was witnessed in precious metals with Silver up by Rs 25 per kg and Gold sliding downwards by Rs 20 per ten gms on the Bombay Bullion Exchange today.
Silver fineness opened steady at Rs 19,400 per kg on moderate demand. Later, it improved and closed at Rs 19,425 with a gain of Rs 25 from Saturday's close.
In London, the white metal was quoted slightly low at 12.83/12.84 per troy ounce against US 12.85/12.86 dollars per troy ounce in New York.
However, standard Gold (99.5) opened slightly high at Rs 9,150 on good demand and closed lower at Rs 9,125 per ten gm with loss of Rs 20 from its last close.
Pure gold (99.9) also opened high at Rs 9,200 per ten gm and closed low at Rs 9,175 with a loss of Rs 20 from its previous close.
In London, the yellow metal rose at USD 634.80/635.00 per troy ounce as compared to USD 626.50/627.50 per troy ounce in New York on Friday.
