Families of fire victims to get compensation

Dubai, Jan 22 (UNI) Workers' families, left bereaved in last week's high-rise fire here, will get compensation amounting to 12 years' salary, the developers of Fortune Towers has announced.

Fortune Investment Group, which is developing the 37-storey building where four workers were killed, said its relief package also covers those injured in the fire last Thursday.

Workers with permanent disabilities will get compensation amounting to ten years' salary, those with major injuries one year's salary and those with minor injuries will be given three months' salary, it said in a statement.

If the duration of the recovery period extends beyond one year, the group will extend this support, it said.

The cause of the fire, in which more than 60 were injured, is said to be due to negligence.
