Dacoits strike at Belgaum, decamp with cash, jewels

Belgaum, Jan 22 (UNI) Dacoits struck at a house in the City and decamped with cash and ornaments together worth over Rs 20 lakh after threatening the inmates in the early hours of today.

Police said that, the seven member gang, who came in a Maruti car, struck at a house belonging to Feroz Seth, in Doordarshan Nagar, and threatened the family members with pistols and iron rods and tied them up before escaping with the booty.

The dacoits, who were conversing in Kannada and Hindi had tied the guard before they entering the house after breaking open a window grill.

Mr Seth ran a petrol pump, transport and wholesale dealership of kerosene and used to keep money in home.

Top police officials, including Superintendent of Police Hemant Nimbalkar visited the spot, dog squad was also pressed into service.
