Criticism of judges not good: Ravi

Kochi, Jan 22 (UNI) Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi today said the recent practice of criticising judges in Kerala was not good as the judiciary was the vanguard of democracy.

Addressing a gathering here, he said the practice of criticising judges for the judgements they pronounced was not good as the credibility of the judiciary should not be questioned.

He said judgements could be criticised after careful study to find societal implications, but judges should not be criticised.

Mr Ravi said unfortunately, certain organisations were encouraging this trend in the State. The State should realise the power of the judiciary as democracy was guarded by the judiciary.

Mr Ravi's observations came in the backdrop of criticism of judges in the State.
