CPM MLA assaulted, party activists resort to road blockade

Rourkela, Jan 22 (UNI) Hundreds of CPI(M) activists blocked a road near Rajamunda on NH 215 demanding legal action against the erring jawans who allegedly assaulted party's Bonai MLA Laxman Munda.

The CPM activists yesterday alleged that Mr Munda was assaulted by a jawan on January 20 night at Lahunipada under Sundergarh police district and demanded public apology by the jawans.

On the other hand, a FIR was filed by a jawan yesterday alleging that he was assaulted by the Bonai MLA while regulating the traffic at Lahunipada.

The CPI(M) MLA also filed a counter FIR against the jawan stating that the latter assaulted him. Though the party earlier announced ''Bonai Bandh'' today in protest against the assault on party MLA, but later they decided to resort to road blockades only.
