Councillors lock up Chairperson on Cable TV issue

Puducherry, Jan 22 (UNI) About twenty Municipal Councillors today locked up Chairperson Sreedevi and entered into an argument with her over the issue of cable TV channels.

Congress Councillor Rajan in a memorandum had urged Dr Sreedevi to streamline the cable TV charges collected here. However,since no action was taken he had issued a statement to the press stating that the attitude of the Chairperson creates suspicion.

Following this, Dr Sreedevi had issued a statement that disciplinary action would be initiated against Mr Rajan. To protest this, Councillors belonging to Congress, PMC, among others today locked the room of the chairperson and entered into an argument with her.

The other Councillors present in the municipal building managed to get inside the room and pacified both the sides.
