Computer education under SSA in AP schools: Reddy

Tirupati, Jan 22 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Legislative House Committee on Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Chairman Changa Reddy today said computer education would be introduced under SSA in 647 of the 1,000 schools from April this year.

Speaking to the press after reviewing SSA with the district collectors of Chittoor, Anantapur, Kadapa and Nellore, Mr Reddy denied irregularities in spending funds under the SSA.

Under the scheme, works were taken up on 3,852 school buildings at a cost of Rs 98.18 crore and drinking water provision to 2,866 schools costing Rs 7.97 crore.

Work on construction of toilets in the schools in the four districts amounting to Rs 7.35 crore was also being undertaken.

English would be introduced in primary schools in the state from next academic period, he added.
