TN: CISF seizes live bullets from air passenger
Chennai, Jan 22: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel seized 6 rounds of .22 mm live bullets from a Delhi-bound air passenger at the Kamaraj Domestic Airport here today.
CISF sources said the passenger A K Pande (56), a Capital-based Leather Merchant, was to catch the Delhi-bound Sahara Airlines flight. After he put his baggage through the scanner, it raised a security alarm.
The CISF personnel isolated the passenger with his baggage and found bullets inside it.
During interrogation, the passenger told them he had arrived in Chennai by train a few days back and due to carelessness, he had kept the bullets in his baggage. He pleaded for his ignorance and sought an apology. Mr Pande also produced his gun license.
Following this, the CISF obtained an untertaking from him and he was allowed to board his flight.
Following the circumstances, the flight was delayed for 15 minutes, sources added.
