Centre sanctions Rs 4.81 crore for IIDC in Mizoram

Aizawl, Jan 22 (UNI) To increase and promote small scale industries (SSI) in the region, Mizoram government has established an Integrated Industrial Development Centre (IIDC) at Pukpui, in southern part of the state.

Zoram Industrial Development Corporation (ZIDCO), the state owned company, had been entrusted with the task to implement the Rs 4.81 crore project in 35 acres of land.

The main objective of IIDC is to provide infrastructure and equipments to SSI's like carpentry and small machinery plants.

This is the 51st centre to be set up under the Centre scheme in the country, sources said.

ZIDCO officials said they would also put more efforts to lead the state towards industrialisation through development of SSI's and other infrastructure.

Besides, the government is also contemplating on the upgradation of Zuangtui industrial estate under industrial infrastructure upgradation scheme of Rs 50 crore.

Establishment of export promotion industrial park at Bairabi, Champhai and Tlabung and setting up of district industries centres in the new districts were also in the pipeline.

New avenues are also being explored for providing better road connectivity, sewerage and waste disposal system for the industrial centres through Asian Development Bank (ADB) loan, the officials said.
