Badal files nomination papers from Lambi
Muktsar, Jan 22 (UNI) Former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today filed his nomination papers at Sub-divisional town Malout as Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) candidate for Lambi constituency for the Punjab Assembly elections slated for February 13.
Mr Badal filed four sets of nomination papers before SDM Malout. Mr Gurdas Singh Badal, brother of Mr Badal also filed his papers as an Indepedent. He will be the covering candidate for Mr Badal.
Before filing his nomination papers, he paid obeisance at a gurudwara in Malout. He then, in a procession, proceeded to the SDM office. The SAD president is a sitting MLA from Lambi constituency. Congress candidate and his cousin brother Mahesh Inder Singh is he main rival of Mr Badal.
After filing the nomination papers, Mr Badal told media persons that he would campaign only for a day in his constituency as he was sure of his win from Lambi.
State Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had filed his nomination papers as Congress candidate from Patiala Assembly contituency on Saturday.
