Azad stresses for use of Urdu in technical subjects
Jammu, jan 22 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today informed the legislative assembly that the government intends to send a high level team of officers to Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad and Urdu University Lucknow to study how technical and science subjects are taught in Urdu language.
Intervening during the question hour in the house, Chief Minister said Urdu has not got its due in state despite being the state's official language with mass acceptability.
Mr Azad said in states like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, a candidate cannot apply for a job if he or she is not well versed with the state's official language.
He said the state government would consider every suggestion that comes for the promotion of Urdu language in the state. Urdu enjoyes popularity in all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and being the official language of the state, requires proper attention for its nurture and growth, he added.
