Itanagar, Jan 22: Altogether 23 boys, including one from Arunachal, have been selected for the National Bravery Awards to be presented by the Prime Minister on Republic Day at New Delhi.

David Kino, a class ten student of Seppa government secondary school at East Kameng district, had saved a person from drowning on May 23, 2006.

Kino would also participate in the Republic Day parade in the National Capital, official sources here today said.

Kino was selected by the Centre's high power committee consisting of the Indian Council for Child Welfare and representatives of other departments with the recommendation of the Arunachal Pradesh Council for Child Welfare (APCCW).

Meanwhile, the APCCW has called upon the district administrations, state police and educational institutions to focus and encourage such acts of bravery by children.

It also urged the state government to implement the Juvenile Justice Act and set up juvenile courts to dispose off juvenile crime, sources said.
